Pastor Wayne J. Banks

Rev. Wayne Joseph Banks born on December 6, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana, is the son of Augustine Picquet (Banks) Marshall. He was born again at the age of eight, accepting Christ at the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Pointe A La Hache, Louisiana. He joined the Greater New Home Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Harry Henry. He grew both spiritually and physically, serving as the Sunday School Superintendent, church clerk and choir member under the close mentoring of the current Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Walsdorf Jenneford Sr. He graduated from McDonough #35 High School in 1977 and joined the United States Air Force at age 19 in December 1979. After several years of Air Force service at K.I. Sawyer A.F.B. Michigan, he was stationed at Offutt A.F.B. Nebraska, in January, 1983. Rev Banks united with the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church and on April 2nd of the same year, he and the former Angela Hudson were wed by the Pastor, Rev. Horace G. McMillon Jr. God has blessed this union with five children, Calida, Wayne II, Tamara, Zavier and Quinton. Under the mentoring leadership of Pastor McMillon, he served as a deacon, trustee and Sunday School teacher. He accepted the call to the ministry in October 1994, preached his first sermon and was licensed November 24th of the same year. Rev. Banks was ordained on April 27, 1997 and continued to serve as an Associate Minister until January of 1998 when he was appointed Assistant Pastor. In October 1998, Rev Banks was installed as the Pastor of Pleasant Green Baptist Church where he has served for the last 10 years. Pastor Banks has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a Master’s degree in Counseling through the University of Oklahoma after completion of comps. He has served in several leadership positions in the community of churches in the Omaha area including, Vice-President and Secretary of Baptist Pastor’s and Minister’s Conference, Vice-President of New Era Congress of Christian Education of Nebraska and currently Director of New Era Minister’s Division.

Reverend Alvin P. McCruel

Reverend Alvin Preston McCruel is an reverend at the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church Omaha, Nebraska where the Reverend Wayne J. Banks, Sr. is the pastor. Rev. McCruel currently serves as the Director of Christian Education and teaches the weekly book study bible class. Rev. McCruel is a native of Catawba, South Carolina. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and  personal Savior and was baptized August 15, 1959 at the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church,  Catawba South Carolina under the pastorate of the Reverend E. E. Riley. He acknowledged his call to  the Gospel ministry and preached his first public sermon on July 29, 1979 at the Bethel Missionary  Baptist Church Omaha, Nebraska under the pastorate of the Reverend Charles F. Thomas. He was  licensed to preach the Gospel by the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church on August 26, 1979. Rev. McCruel has received a Certificate in Christian Training and Diploma in Theology from the  Extension Department of the American Baptist Theological Seminary Nashville, Tennessee. He has  earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Arts  Degree in Biblical Studies from Grace University, Omaha, Nebraska. Rev. McCruel’s graduate studies  include Geographical and Historical Settings of the Land of the Bible, Jerusalem University College,  Mount Zion, Jerusalem, Israel. Rev. McCruel currently serves the New Era Baptist State Convention of Nebraska, Inc. as the  Evangelism Director and Certified Evangelism Instructor. He has previously served as State Director of  Christian Education, Convention Choir Chaplain, Convention Treasurer, Certified State Dean, Certified  Assistant State Dean and Certified Bible Instructor. Rev. McCruel accompanied the City Union Ushers in the spring of 1998 and 1999 and conducted  worship services and inspirational talks with the young people at the Youth Rehabilitation Center at  Geneva, Nebraska. Rev. McCruel is married to the former Emma J. McGee. The McCruel’s are the proud parents of two  children and two grandchildren.

Reverend Jesse J. Isom

Minister Justin Payne

Rev. Jesse J. Isom is a native to Oxford, Mississippi. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a young age. He acknowledged his call to Gospel Ministry and preached his first sermon on March 24, 1968 at the Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Omaha, Nebraska under the pastorate of the Rev. James E. Kelly and was licensed to preach the Gospel. Rev. Isom was ordained and set apart to the works of the Gospel April 12, 1970. Rev. Isom received a Certificate in Christian Training and Diploma in Theology from the Extension Dept. of the American Baptist Theological Seminary, Nashville, Tennessee, and also attended Grace Univ., Omaha, NE. Rev. Isom’s first assignment was assistant to Rev. James Kelly, Greater New Hope Baptist Church, and later became associate minister at the Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William L. Blake. Rev. Isom’s first pastoral assignment began October 1977 when he was called to the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa where he served for 37 years. After his retirement September 29, 2013, he shortly thereafter united with Pleasant Green Baptist Church where the Rev. Wayne J. Banks is the pastor. Rev. Isom is well known in the community and surrounding areas and has served and continues to serve on various committes and organizations. He has served as third vice president of New Era Baptist State Unified Convention and Congress of Nebraska, Inc., Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, Television Ministry and numerous others.
The youngest of Pleasant Green clergy, Minister Justin Payne, affectionately called "Minister Jay," accepted his calling to preach in the summer of 2012 and preached his initial sermon in November of 2012. Minister Jay is extremely passionate about his calling, and he desires to utilize all of the gifts that have been given to him. An avid lover of music and drama, Minister Jay is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Voice Performance degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He plans to graduate in 2016 with his degree and immediately study music overseas in Germany. Philippians 4:13 states, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

Reverend Monroe Relford III

Reverend Monroe Relford III was born in Omaha, NE, where he graduated from Omaha South High. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving eight years as an aircraft maintenance technician during the Viet Nam Era, including a tour in South Korea. His professional career has been in sales and management in the Industrial Power Transmission, Fluid Power and HVAC industries. He studied Communications at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Reverend Relford accepted his call to preach in 1994, and was ordained by the Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR in 1995. His calling from God is to do the work of an evangelist, and has preached the gospel in the streets of Little Rock, in men’s prisons, community corrections units, juvenile detention facilities, as well as churches and various venues for over 20 years. He has served as Associate Pastor at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Little Rock, also serving as ministry leader of the Prison, Outreach, and Marriage Ministries. While at Liberty Hill, he directed Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday School and other Christian Education classes. He has received numerous certifications from the Arkansas Congress of Christian Education and the Union District Congress of Christian Education.  He is the proud father of three daughters and four grandchildren. He spends his spare time enjoying travel, reading, and watching sports and movies.
